In Finland's Development Policy regional cooperation complements other channels of development assistance. The Southern African region is one of Finland's main partners in regional co-operation. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland has also an active role as an International Cooperating Partner to regional organizations such as SADC, NEPAD and other.
Environment and natural resources
Energy and Environment Partnership Programme in Southern and East Africa, EEP-S&EA 2010–2017, 65 million EUR
EEP Multi-Donor Trust Fund, 2018-ongoing, 28 million EUR (Finland's part is 15 million)

Forest Sector Education and Training for Green Employment, implemented by UNIDO. Finland’s contribution to the pilot phase (2014-2017) was 100,000 EUR. Current phase (2018-2019) funding is 700,000 EUR.

Support to the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) 2017-2020, 800,000 EUR. Finland is promoting African tax authorities’ accountability towards their own citizens through directing tax collections to public services.
