Foreign Correspondents' Programme and its South African participant Mr Kabelo Chabalala

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland has been organising the Foreign Correspondents' Program (FCP) since 1990 for aspiring journalists from all over the world. A handful of young journalists spend three intense weeks in Finland and get to know Finland from its world-renowned education system to inspiring business solutions and from the vibrant urban life to pristine nature, and more.

Kabelo

South Africa is one of the 16 participating countries this year. The embassy received 63 application from young South African journalists and unanimously selected Mr Kabelo Chabalala to be the sixth South African FCP participant since the beginning of the program.

Kabelo works for the Pretoria News, which is part of South-Africa's biggest media house Independent Media. He is an "all rounder", he writes news stories and columns, does design and layout and also acts also as a sub chief of the newspaper.

Kabelo is also the founder of the Young Men Movement (#YMM) and does motivational talks on the theme #VillageBoyTalks. Kabelo's interests lie very strongly in equality and education - Finland is therefore a perfect destination. Kabelo has obtained a Theology certificate from the Johannesburg Bible College. In short, he is a philanthropist, columnist, motivational speaker, MC, preacher and journalist. All that by the age of 27, no wonder his superior called him an amazing young man!
